PROfile - DJ Snake

PROfile is a weekly editorial profiling a talent. It can be a local or internation DJ, Producer, Engineer, Manager, Dancer...

It is very important to learn about people in your field, be it DJing, Production or any other thing. It is very helpful to learn how other people achieved what you are trying to achieve and what helped them reach or surpass their goals. It is also great to learn the pitfalls. I have learned that we can learn a lot from people who are doing similar things in different markets and genres.

By and large, 2014 seems to have been a thoroughly good year for Paris-born DJ Snake. The trap producer teamed up with Dillon Francis to release bassy stomper ‘Get Low’ at the beginning of the year, which — unsurprisingly — received a huge amount of club airplay. The duo recently gave the track a reworking via their ‘Rebirth in Paris’ version, which will doubtless create further waves.

Snake was also invited on Skrillex’s Mothership Tour, before being asked back once again for Skrillex’s Fall Tour. Not bad for a producer whose first official solo release came only in 2013 — though he wasn’t exactly silent before that, earning a Grammy nomination in 2012 for his production work on Lady Gaga’s ‘Born This Way’ album.

DJ Snakes worldwide break however, was a with the super smash hit "Turn Down For What" featuring the Crunk King, Lil Jon.

Turn Down for What" entered the top ten of the Billboard Dance/Electronic chart during the last week of December 2013. In January 2014, the single entered the top 5 on the Dance/Electronic chart and debuted No. 38 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song was certified gold in February 2014 and platinum in March 2014.

The success of this song took DJ Snake all over the world, touring with the likes od Diplo and Skrillex. He continued his rise with the release of "Get Low" featuring Dillon Francis and "You Know You Like It" featuring Aluna Geroge. His next smash hit however came in the form of "Lean On', a collaboration between DJ Snake, his label boss Diplos group , Major Lazer and female vocalist MØ
