Africa's Biggest Stars Take Over New York at One Africa Music Fest
Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York played host to Africa's biggest artist on July 22, 2016. The nearly sold out show featured performances from the continents superstars including Wizkid (Nigeria), Tiwa Savage (Nigeria), Banky W (Nigeria), Flavour (Nigeria), Stonebwoy (Ghana), Wale (USA/Nigeria), Davido (Nigeria), Diamond Platnumz (Tanzania), Seun Kuti (Nigeria), Machel Montano (Trinadad), Jidenna (USA/Nigeria), Don Jazzy (Nigeria), Timaya (Nigeria), Praiz (Nigeria), Ayo Jay(Nigeria) and more.
One Africa Music Fest is the first of its kind and highlights the growing popularity and spread of African music and culture. The show was put together by superstar promoter and manager Paul O's Upfront and Personal. The entire show was streamed live on Tidal.
One of the memorable moments was when arguably the hottest African artist WizKid brought out New York producer and rapper Swizz Beatz on stage to a roaring reception.
The concert was hosted by Banky W a former New York resident.
This concert seems to have been epic and successful. Let us to see if this can be an annual event and if this can truly spread the art of the continent. I would also like to find out if non-africans attended or cared.
Congratulations to everyone involved.
