DJ TECH - Pioneer XDJ-1000
The Pioneer XDJ-1000 Multiplayer is a digitally focused, rekordbox compatible USB-only player featuring a 7-inch full colour touch screen - ushering in a new era in digital DJ’ing for the industry standard table top club format.
The XDJ-1000 meets the demand for a USB-only player with all of the familiarity and performance pedigree of the industry standard CDJ range. In addition to unrivalled heritage the unit is also compatible with Pioneer DJ’s KUVO community giving DJs the ability to share live set information with clubbers, creating a must have player for the emerging generation of connected DJs.
Utilising its full colour, large LCD screen the XDJ-1000 uses an interactive GUI to place control at the fingertips of the DJ. Featuring tabs for Play, Perform and Browse DJs can now get instant access to the player’s entire arsenal, many of these features are inherited from the CDJ-2000NXS. The now ubiquitous 206mm jog wheels are present alongside Slip Mode, Quantize and Beat Sync. They’re joined by the new Quantized Beat Jump/Loop Move feature – making movement possible through the loop in jumps of 1,2 or 4 beats both backwards and forwards on the fly.
XDJ-1000 revolutionises track browsing, DJs can use the qwerty touch screen keyboard to search for keywords with results filtered live and as the term is further refined the accuracy of the results is improved. Tracks that have been prepared with rekordbox display in depth information including Wave Zoom, Beat Counter, Phase Meter and Key Analysis – in addition to this instant access is available to stored cues, loops and customised settings. Playlists can also be colour coded and the illuminated USB port will mirror that colour providing instant visual feedback of the content of the USB device.
With Rekordbox firmly established as the database management software of choice for professional DJs the world over it was only a matter of time before Pioneer created a player for the truly digital DJ – the XDJ-1000. With the omission of the CD drive the XDJ1000 is reliant upon its connectivity and it certainly isn’t lacking in this department, offering USB connection to devices and Mac/PC and an Ethernet link. It’s important to note that while the XDJ-1000 is a digital media player it does not feature a digital output, this feature is reserved for Pioneer’s Nexus range.
