The Beat 99.9fm owner sues Rihanna and Roc Nation for allegedly pocketing $160G after canceling show
She better have his money. A Nigerian concert promoter is suing Rihanna and Roc Nation for allegedly pocketing $160,000 for a canceled show. In papers filed in Manhattan Supreme Court, Chris Ubosi said he and his company worked with local concert promoters in Lagos to have the “Work” singer perform a show there in May 2013. He agreed to pay a total of $435,000 to have the superstar play a 65-minute set at the swanky Eko Hotel — paying $160,000 in advance, court papers say. Reps for the local promoters and Roc Nation then said the “B---h Better Have My Money” stunner had to postpone the show until July, a delay Ubosi agreed to — as long as she listed the makeup date in her official tour diary, the suit says.
When the makeup date wasn’t listed in the weeks before the show, Ubosi said he and his companies canceled the show “and demanded the full and prompt return of their money.” Those demands have been ignored, says the suit, which also names Roc Nation big Jay Z as a defendant. A rep for Roc Nation did not immediately answer a request for comment on Tuesday.
